Tax & Insurance

Configure tax rates and insurance rules by country and region for accurate financial calculations.

Tax & Insurance overview

Open Tax & Insurance#

  1. Click Business in the sidebar
  2. Click Tax & Insurance

This page is visible to admins and owners only.

Tabs#

The page has two tabs:

  • Overview — See all configured tax and insurance rules
  • Configure — Create and edit rules

Tax Rules#

View Tax Rules#

The Overview tab lists all configured tax rules organized by country and region.

Tax rules list

Create a Tax Rule#

  1. Switch to the Configure tab
  2. Click Add Tax Rule
  3. Fill in:

| Field | Description | |-------|-------------| | Country | Country the rule applies to | | State/Province | State, region, or city | | Federal Tax Rate | National tax rate (%) | | State Tax Rate | Regional tax rate (%) | | Social Security Rate | Social security contribution (%) | | Medicare Rate | Medicare/health contribution (%) | | Unemployment Tax Rate | Unemployment insurance rate (%) | | Workers Comp Rate | Workers compensation rate (%) |

  1. Click Save

Create tax rule

Custom Taxes#

Add additional custom taxes beyond the standard rates:

  • Percentage — A percentage of the base amount
  • Fixed Amount — A flat fee per transaction

Click Add Custom Tax within a rule to include these.

Sample Data#

The system includes sample tax configurations for:

  • US — California
  • US — New York
  • Other countries

Use these as starting points and customize as needed.

Insurance Rules#

View Insurance Rules#

Listed alongside tax rules in the Overview tab.

Create an Insurance Rule#

  1. In the Configure tab, go to the Insurance section
  2. Fill in:

| Field | Description | |-------|-------------| | Health Insurance Rate | Employer contribution (%) | | Disability Insurance Rate | Disability coverage (%) | | Liability Insurance Rate | Liability coverage (%) |

  1. Click Save

Insurance rules

Edit and Delete#

  • Edit — Click a rule to modify its rates
  • Delete — Remove a rule with confirmation

Permissions#

Tax & Insurance access requires admin or owner role. Specific permissions:

  • create — Add new rules
  • read — View existing rules
  • update — Edit rules
  • delete — Remove rules
